Super Formula Broadcast Series
A grassroots community movement bringing top-tier open-wheel racing to the global stage with professional commentary, multi-camera production, and real-world racing ladders.
When The Community Builds The Stage
The formula racing movement on iRacing started with a simple realization: when racers want better coverage for their favorite series, they do not have to wait for someone else to step in. They can step up to the plate together. Videos from community creators like Emil Bernstorff, La Broca, TDi99, and Andrew Peddie helped spark honest conversations about where formula competition needed more visibility.
What started as a single organizer coordinating broadcasts has grown into an active organizing committee of seven dedicated contributors. Working alongside creators like TDi99 and Andrew Peddie are key community drivers and organizers including Gerhard Roets, James Burn, Jamie Burn, Marc Ponick, and Alan Strovich with Sim Racing Nation. Together, they volunteer their time and coordinate with broadcasters to make sure top-split open-wheel racing gets the spotlight it deserves.
Featured on iRacing's Official Channels
Thanks to this massive grassroots push, the Super Formula broadcast series earned placement on iRacing's official media channels and weekly tune-in schedules distributed to drivers around the world. At the Red Bull Ring broadcast alone, the SimSpeed production drew nearly 3,500 views within nine hours and held an average of over 100 live concurrent viewers during the race.
To deliver broadcast coverage that reflects the speed of the Super Formula car, the community works with SimSpeed. Known across sim racing for detailed multi-camera race coverage, SimSpeed delivers live telemetry, on-board camera angles, and professional race commentary.
The movement has also brought together a dedicated coalition of influencers, racing brands, and software builders who support the series. Community allies include Marian Barbieru with GitGud Racing, Tamas Simon from Tamas Setups, Alex Pelea with Syncmesh, Grid Finder, Traxion.gg, Full Push Racing, and Ivan Taranov with Scorpio Motorsport and Scorpio eSports.
This initiative does more than entertain fans on YouTube—it creates real opportunities for aspiring drivers. Leaders like Ivan Taranov (a former member of the Force India Young Driver Program) believe real motorsport talent can be found and developed in the sim. Through collaborative programs, standout sim racers—such as three-time champion Timothy Friis Larsen—have earned direct pathways into real-world racing cockpits.
