If you have been using an unofficial third-party overlay or website to track your live Safety Rating (SR), Driver Rating (DR), and race history in Le Mans Ultimate, you should disconnect it right away. Today, Studio 397 published an official November community notice confirming that automatic rate limiting and IP bans are now active on RaceControl servers.
Because Le Mans Ultimate does not currently offer a public stats API, several community-built stat trackers have been pulling driver profiles and race results by logging into RaceControl through Steam authorization or using players' active game tokens to impersonate their accounts.
From Studio 397:
"We have seen these create millions of backend calls - often, with very little thought to load and caching which can cause problems with RaceControl as a service. Because of this, we have implemented automatic rate limiting and IP banning for out of normal requests. As a Studio, we are asking you to not create or use these services (tools that monitor & display your live LMU SR/DR rank & results history) and be mindful what third party tools or apps you install."
What Is Allowed vs. What Triggers an IP Ban
- Local Telemetry Apps Are Safe: Standard local UDP/shared-memory telemetry tools like SimHub, MoTeC, and CrewChief that read live car data from your own PC without logging into RaceControl servers are completely unaffected.
- Cloud Stat Scrapers Trigger Bans: Apps or websites that ask you to sign in with Steam or paste your game token to poll your online SR/DR rank and split results violate the EULA and can get your IP address blocked from joining online races.
- No Public API Yet: Studio 397 noted that while players want a public stats API, the team cannot support one right now while prioritizing core RaceControl stability.
