In high-horsepower rear-wheel-drive LMGT3 cars in Le Mans Ultimate, the battle is won or lost at the apex. Many drivers hit their apex curb, instantly floor the gas pedal to 100%, and are shocked when the rear tires light up or the traction control cuts all their engine power.
When a race car is loaded into a corner, its tires are already using 80% of their grip just to turn. Mashing the throttle demands 100% acceleration at the same time, instantly exceeding total tire grip.
As you release the brake pedal at the apex, pick up 15% to 25% maintenance throttle. This settles the rear suspension and shifts weight onto the rear tires without breaking traction.
Link your throttle foot directly to your hands. As you unwind steering lock toward the exit curb, squeeze throttle from 30% to 60% up to 100%. Only reach full throttle when the steering wheel is nearly straight.
If your dashboard traction control LEDs flash non-stop on corner exit, you are getting on the gas too aggressively while the wheel is still turned. Lower your TC Slip setting only once your right foot is smooth enough to avoid spinning the tires.
Relying on traction control to catch full-throttle stomps cuts engine power and kills straightaway speed. The fastest LMGT3 drivers apply throttle smoothly enough that TC barely flickers.
Carrying Maximum Exit Speed
Treating your gas pedal like a volume knob rather than an on/off light switch keeps the rear tires planted. You launch down the exit straight with maximum speed and save your rear tires over a full fuel stint.
