Texas-based boutique wheel builder Gomez Sim Industries (GSI) used the 2026 SimRacing Expo in Frankfurt to unveil a major evolution of its compact screenless formula and GT wheel: the GSI X-29+ (X-29 Plus).
While the original X-29 earned a loyal following for bringing GSI's rock-solid billet construction into a lighter, simpler 290mm format, drivers asked for more on-the-fly thumb controls and visual shift cues. The new X-29+ directly answers that feedback ahead of its official pre-sale later in 2026.
Every Hardware Upgrade on the New X-29+
Rather than just refreshing the faceplate anodizing, GSI brought several flagship hardware components down from its top-tier Artemis and Hyper P1 wheels into the X-29+ chassis:
- Added Thumb Rotaries: Integrated thumb encoders let you adjust brake bias or traction control without taking a hand off the silicone grips.
- Refined LED RPM Strip: Adds a flush shift light bar across the top of the faceplate alongside LED-backlit rotary knobs.
- Metal-Domed Buttons: Upgraded three-piece button mechanism uses metal-domed actuators for a crisp, unmistakable click.
- CEMS V4 Paddles: Equipped with GSI's latest ball-bearing magnetic shifters and dual-clutch paddles derived from the Artemis.
- GSI UltraLink Support: Integrates GSI's UltraLink connection architecture with full USB passthrough capabilities.
- Late 2026 Pre-Sale: Official pre-orders open later this year with final pricing to be confirmed shortly.
A True No-Compromise Screenless Rim
For racers who run VR headsets or prefer a standalone DDU dashboard screen mounted to their wheelbase, the original X-29 was already one of the stiffest 290mm wheels on the market. Adding thumb rotaries, an RPM LED strip, and CEMS V4 paddles turns the GSI X-29+ into a complete endurance and open-wheel weapon.
