As the regular 36-week NASCAR iRacing Series wraps up this week, iRacing announced today that the 2026-27 Winter NASCAR iRacing Series (WNiS) is getting a major shakeup starting November 11: the high-horsepower 2003 NASCAR Gen 4 Cup cars are joining the rotation alongside the classic 1987 NASCAR Legends.
In past off-seasons, all eight weekly Winter NiS timeslots ran the 1987 cars in separate Fixed and Open series. For 2026-27, both series will use Fixed Setups and split the eight weekly timeslots evenly between the two eras across an 11-week schedule leading up to Daytona in February.
From iRacing:
"The time slots currently occupied by the Fixed NiS timeslots will be the Winter iRacing NASCAR Gen 4 Cup Series this season, while the other four timeslots that housed the Open NiS will be the Winter iRacing NASCAR 87 Series. Both of these new series will utilize Fixed Setups for this season. The new Gen 4 Cup Series will utilize the two 2003 cars released in iRacing's 2025 Season 3, the Chevrolet Monte Carlo and the Ford Taurus."
