RaceRoom's Historic Update 2026 arrived on October 21 with a redesigned interface, major force feedback improvements, a new backend and additional historic racing content. However, the launch has also renewed discussions about the sims pricing strategy, multiplayer reliability and ranked racing participation. While KW Studios has already released fixes addressing problems introduced by the update, some players are questioning whether the latest improvements will be enough to attract and retain a larger online community.
The Historic Update represents a substantial technical milestone for RaceRoom. Beyond introducing new cars and circuits, KW Studios has replaced several legacy systems, added OpenXR support, improved performance and expanded the game's driver statistics. The developer has also revised its store, with every car purchase now including all available liveries rather than requiring them to be purchased individually.
These improvements have received positive feedback from parts of the community, particularly regarding the new interface and force feedback. Nevertheless, the launch has exposed several concerns that extend beyond the technical changes themselves.
One of the main discussion points is the price of the new Historic Pack. Listed at €45 in the official RaceRoom store, the package includes four cars: the Peugeot 406 Super Touring, Ford Mondeo Super Touring, Abarth 1000 TCR and Mini Cooper S Mk3. It also contains three circuits: Spa-Francorchamps 1995, Laguna Seca Historic and Fliegerhorst Wunstorf, alongside 42 liveries.
