Having your wheelbase lose power or drop its USB connection in the middle of a heavy braking zone is one of the worst feelings in sim racing. Earlier this week, Thrustmaster addressed community reports of random disconnections on its T598 Direct Axial Drive wheelbase by rolling out a complimentary Cable Locking Kit alongside targeted connector servicing under its two-year global warranty.
Since the T598 launched as an entry-level direct drive package for PlayStation 5 and PC, a subset of owners noticed the base briefly powering down or disconnecting during sharp force feedback curb strikes or chassis vibrations on aluminum rigs.
- Custom molded retention bracket screws directly into the rear housing of the T598 motor base.
- Locks the rear power supply plug firmly in place so rig vibration cannot back the connector out.
- Secures the USB-C data line against side-to-side strain while still allowing normal unplugging when needed.
Available free of charge upon request to any T598 owner through Thrustmaster Customer Support.
- Applies to early production units where the first four digits of the serial number are below 2513.
- Fixes micro-dimensional tolerance play inside the female power port on early manufacturing runs.
- Covered under Thrustmaster's standard two-year worldwide hardware warranty.
Owners can check the serial sticker underneath the base to see if their unit falls into the early batch.
How T598 Owners Can Request the Fix
If your T598 cuts out over bumps or when climbing in and out of your cockpit, check the first four digits of the serial number on the underside of the housing. Owners can open a ticket on Thrustmaster Support to have the free Cable Locking Kit shipped out or arrange a warranty port repair if their base belongs to an early pre-2513 batch.
